The 2012 Nibiru question is based upon the theory that an unknown planet will make an appearance at that time and bring about massive physical changes here on Earth. Those that believe this theory state that Nibiru is on a huge elliptical orbit which only brings it close to our planet every’00 years. The result of its approach and its effect on the Earth will bring about the eruption of super volcanoes, giant earthquakes, mega tsunamis, and a polar shift. The combination of these events would cause the death of most of the human race.

The history of the belief in such a planet can be traced back to the ancient Sumerian culture that depicted a tenth planet in their cuneiform tablets. Since that time it has been given many different names apart from Nibiru: Planet X, Nemeses, the Winged Globe, Marduk, the Tenth Planet, and also Wormwood.

It isn’t just the Sumerians that predicted a global event occurring in 2012; it is a theme in a number of other cultures. Many people associate the year 2012 with the Mayan people that lived in South America. They used very different forms of calendars based upon huge astronomical cycles.

The Mayan calendar that is relevant to 2012 is the long-count calendar. This is calculated to come to an end on 21st December 2012 and it would be the end of the fourth great cycle. Many people have suggested that the significance of this is more spiritual than physical as the Mayans state that it will be the dawn of the Golden Age, a time of great evolution of consciousness.

Of course, any theory or prophecy is not provable until it occurs and becomes a fact. If the theory based around the appearance of a planet in 2012 is proven correct than the consequences are almost unimaginable.

At one time ice sheets covered vast swathes of North America and Europe, there have been earthquakes that make today’s events seem almost trivial, and there is also evidence that pole shifts have occurred previously. The reason for these past geological changes cannot be fully explained, only theories can suggest why they happened.

It is now thought that the Sun plays a greater role in Earth changes than previously realized. The solar and electromagnetic energy that is released from the Sun can have widespread effects here on our planet. It is possible that even the global warming that is being experienced may be down to the Sun’s activity and not the amount of carbon we produce. Some people have put forward the idea that Nibiru is not a planet but a twin star of our own Sun, and that we live in a binary galaxy.

At the end of the day one might ask, “Is there anything I can do to prepare for such an event?”
If there is a celestial body, Nibiru going to make an appearance in 2012, the answer is yes I would
try to be as prepared as with any catastrophe. If you are able, some people think there are geographical places that are safer than others, you might feel better living in one of these places. There are even communities who were formed with just this event in mind. I would try to learn as much as I can about all the events of 2012 so as to have a better understanding. Or you can just put it out of your mind and if it happens it happens. I know some folks have this idea. It’s up to you.
