This year, Watchmen costumes have become incredibly popular for Halloween and other science fiction gatherings. Silk Spectre, Night Owl, The Comedian, Dr. Manhattan - all of the popular characters from the best-selling graphic novel have stolen the Halloween spotlight, thanks to the release and continuing popularity of the smash hit movie by the same name.
Watchmen costumes offer a large variety of characters to choose from, so you’re sure to find one that speaks to your inner superhero. They’re perfect for individual costumes, and would work great if you’re looking for a theme for a family or group of friends. Night Owl and Silk Spectre would make great Watchmen costumes for couples. Most of the characters are dressed in relatively simple costumes, making them easy to imitate and comfortable to wear.
Ladies are free to get in touch with their super heroine sides in Sally Jupiter or Silk Spectre Watchmen movie costumes. Both are fearless fighters dressed in yellow and black costumes, with Silk Spectre’s outfit being a little more sleek and stealthy, while Sally Jupiter maintains a look closer to that of a pin up girl. Costumes for both heroines are easy to find in a range of sizes online, or check your local specialty costume shop.
Watchmen movie costumes offer a variety of choices for men wishing to get in touch with their inner superhero. Night Owl, a popular choice in Watchmen movie costumes this Halloween, is a superhero costume in the likeness of an owl, with a long cape instead of wings. Night Owl’s uniform is quite detailed, and the costumes available this season copy the detail well. Night Owl costumes are relatively inexpensive, and include the owl headpiece.
The Comedian is also a hit when it comes to Watchmen movie costumes. When The Comedian stepped out to fight crime, he did so much like Night Owl - in a very detailed costume. Difficult to duplicate, this may be one Watchmen movie costume you’re better off purchasing.
If you’re hoping to make your own Watchmen costumes, Rorschach is one of the easier Watchmen characters to copy. His vigilante crime fighting uniform was quite simple - a mid-length trench coat with a beige colored scarf, gloves, and a fedora make up the clothing, and the mask could be copied with some thick white material and a fabric pen and very basic sewing skills.
Dr. Manhattan would also be a fairly simple Watchmen Halloween costume to duplicate on your own. While you can purchase a mask and gloves to help make your Watchmen movie costumes more authentic, this isn’t necessary. The only clothing Dr. Manhattan requires is a pair of black pants, though you could opt for a full black suit if you wanted, similar to the one he wore to The Comedian’s funeral. Blue body paint or liquid latex will help turn your skin blue just like Dr. Manhattan.
Who watches the Watchmen? From Dr. Manhattan and Silk Spectre to Rorschach, Watchmen costumes will ensure that everyone is watching you!

Are you planning a fancy dress party and you need to come up with some ideas for a theme? Perhaps you’ve been invited to a fancy dress party and you need to make a costume? Well here are some great tips and fancy dress ideas to help you make the process fun, easy and most importantly affordable.
Think of a Party Theme
Your party theme could be based on something you particularly like or enjoy, such as a favourite movie and the characters or actors in that movie, or maybe a story or a fairy tale, or something you remember from childhood. Or it could perhaps be a decade in history.
To start with think about whether there are many different characters within a theme to make it varied? Then think about whether the costumes within the theme are easy to re-create? Will everybody know something about the theme?
When you have an idea for a theme start to think about whether lots of other people will like it as well. Will they be able to easily copy a character and a costume? Are there enough characters so that all your guests will be able to wear a different costume?
Affordable Costumes
You probably don’t want to spend a lot of money on a fancy dress costume as it’s not likely that you’ll wear it again after the party! So if you’re choosing a theme, keep it simple so that it’s easy to get an affordable costume.
To keep your costume cheap you could make it rather than buy one, by using clothes you own or by borrowing them from friends, or look round some charity shops for certain items.
Have a look around the internet for second hand and new outfits as it’s possible to find both at relatively cheap prices. Some fancy dress costumes are very expensive but you can get budget options.
Comfort is Important
Always try your costume on well before a party to make sure it is comfortable and has plenty of movement as it’s not like wearing your regular clothes. Comfort is really important if you’re going to enjoy yourself and not be thinking about wearing a fancy dress outfit all night.
If your costume includes a mask, a head piece or is slightly awkward, check whether you need to take it off to eat and drink.
Think about the venue youre going to, where its situated, how youll get there and how warm it will be when you get there. Obviously temperature will also depend on the time of year so its important to think about the season before you plan your costume appropriately.
Have Fun
Make run up to the party fun by getting together with friends to discuss and choose costumes, you can even coordinate your costumes as a group. If you’re going with a partner you could coordinate and get matching costumes.
If you need to research a theme to create a costume for a fancy dress party you could get some details and ideas by watching some related movies, or have a look through some magazines or books.
If you enjoy being creative make your own costume and try it on home before the party to make sure you have all the right accessories. Its always good fun to get ready with friends or family before the party so you can all travel together in your costumes.
Add Accessories
Accessories can really make or break an outfit, get them right and you’ll look amazing. They’ll help you to feel in character and they’re a great way to make a cheap costume look stunning.
You can add accessories to any fancy dress outfit, whatever the cost, and they’ll help your outfit look amazing.
Accessories are a great way to really get the intricacies of your character just right. They show you’ve paid attention and put effort into choosing your costume. They make such a difference to any costume and you can buy anything you need online so there’s no excuse not to have some.
If you use all these tips you should have no trouble at all coming up with fancy dress ideas and creating a fantastic costume.

Different countries celebrate Mother’s Day on different days, because this day has different roots of origin. To believe certain sources this day comes from a custom of mother worship in ancient Greece.
The ancient Romans also had a holiday, called Matronalia, and on this day mothers were given gifts. Besides the Mother’s Day, in many countries International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th.
The author of modern Mother’s Day holiday is known to be Anna Jarvis. In 1912 she trademarked phrases “second Sunday in May” and “Mother’s day”. She has also created the Mother’s Day International Association.
Anna Jarvis created this day to honor the mother, not mothers in general. Which means that, the day is dedicated for the mother of each person, and each person has to honor his own mother.
The day was not recognized as national holiday immediately. Anna Jarvis first held a memorial for her late mother in 1907. It was a private ceremony. Later she ran campaigns to make this day popular.
Mother’s Day became popular in 1910 when clothing merchant John Wanamaker financed the campaigns. The holiday spread as a day for mother appreciation. It has become accepted as national holiday by US President Woodrow Wilson on May 14, 2009.
To this day, after almost 100 years, Mother’s Day is one of the best known and widely celebrated holidays. We honor our mothers during this day and give them presents.
In the entire world people celebrate Mother’s Day, and even though the dates differ, it means the same thing. We remember our mothers and show them our love and how important they are to us.
As that day comes closer, we can start thinking about what we will do on this day, how we will show our appreciation to our mothers, what gift we will give her.

Mother’s Day as we know it is a very profound and cheerful day. On this day we honor our mothers, and give them presents. We enjoy spending time with them and sharing old memories. It’s simply a very nice and sweet occasion to celebrate.
But very few people know the sad story of the founder of this day. Anna Marie Jarvis will always be remembered as the original author of this beautiful idea, and the story would end happily if it was not for the black stain on its past.
On May 12 of 1907 Anna Marie Jarvis has held a memorial for her mother who died two years earlier. After that day she took on a campaign to make the Mother’s Day a widely recognized day. She finally succeeded to do that and in 1914 it has become a national holiday.
As it were, the holiday has quickly become commercialized and Anna Marie didn’t appreciate that at all. In the 20s she incorporated herself as the “Mother’s Day International Association” and claimed the copyright of the second Sunday of May.
She was active in her campaign against the commercialization and even once was arrested for disturbing peace. She has spent her family heritage on her campaigns against the holiday she created and died in poverty.
Truly a sad story and that gives food for thought. The true meaning of this wonderful day has been taken over by cheesy gifts and to cite Anna Marie Jarvis, “A printed card means nothing except that you are too lazy to write to the woman who has done more for you than anyone in the world”; that stands true way too often.
Let’s not forget the meaning of this wonderful day and honor our mothers from our heart. It’s not the gifts that matter but your love. Give her a gift but make it symbol of your love.

For those of you who have never attended a baby shower, one question that is often asked is, What do I wear? Dressing up for baby showers can be lots of fun, and picking out your outfit should never be a drag. Although there are many different types of baby showers with different levels of fanciness, there are a few basic guidelines that can help you choose a fashionable and appropriate outfit for the big event. Whether you are working with what you have at home, or going shopping for a cute, new outfit, this article will help you with your baby shower fashion dilemmas.
In the winter, fashion is all about classiness and style without showing too much skin. Although dark colors are easier to find than pastel tones during winter, there are always classic light colors available in department stores and fashion stores that you can purchase year round. In the winter you can also pull off a combination of say, a long sleeve pastel colored fashion top matched with a pair of black or gray slacks.
Winter allows for mixing the traditional baby shower pastel colors with the current colors of the season, which tend to be darker. Winter scarves, blazers, and elegant jackets in light colors are also popular items for winter baby showers. Long semi-formal dresses that are not too casual but not too dressy also work well for winter showers.
Spring baby showers tend to be the most centered around pastel colors. When this time of year comes around, stores fill their racks with pretty, spring colors that are fashionable for spring baby showers, a cute dress or a nice top paired with a skirt are good outfit choices for the spring.
If the baby shower is for a baby girl, pink is a fabulous color to wear; if the baby is a boy, baby blue works perfect. Light yellow and soft green are neutral colors that work well for girl or boy baby showers. There are no set rules for what colors to wear, but pastel colors are definitely a must for spring. Headscarves and pretty, feminine jewelry are great accessories for spring baby showers.
When the summer comes around, the color palette for baby shower wardrobe becomes a little brighter and a little more fun. Summer is representative of heat, sun, sand, and fun! For summer baby showers, wear a cute summer dress with a nice pattern, or, pair a pretty, sleeveless or short sleeve top with an A-line or flowing skirt that lies right above or at the knees.
Classy Bermudas are a summer must have and will look fabulous at a summer baby shower. Colors like aqua, pink, light orange and bright yellow are perfect for the summer. Jewelry and accessories can also be bolder and brighter for a summer baby shower. Colorful clutches are a fun and cute alternative for purses in the summer.
In the fall, seasonal colors are not as bright as the in the summer, but soft, light colors are still in. Things like knee-length skirts, classic cropped pants, and three-quarter sleeve tops are some great ideas for fall. Remember that although there are guidelines for baby shower fashion, it is important to keep in mind the time, place, and theme of the shower.

Every year in May we dedicate one day of the year to our beloved person - our mom. We take the time to show our appreciation and our love. On this day when we pay all our attention to her, especially if we have forgotten to do that during the year.
It’s easy to forget our mother in the daily mundane world. We go fast to our jobs and back home that we forget our most important people. So it is a great tradition to remember that at least once a year and let her know we love her.
It is not with our gifts that we show that but by sharing our memories and emotions, paying her a visit and spending all day with her. This day has a deep meaning for her and for us. That is the time to refresh our connection.
The gift that is popular to give her, is a symbol of that attention, but it must not precede our feelings. The gift is merely a token, but the intent must be obvious. Some people even don’t make gifts, for not to hide the meaning.
The perfect gift may be not the most expensive one but that which one puts their heart into it. A simple little card made out of old photos can be one that she will cherish for the rest of her life. Yet an expensive coffeemaker can be quickly forgotten.
To find the best mother’s day idea, look into your heart. Think about your feelings, think about the things that express them. An old little something, even if just a picture can do that.
No matter how you choose to show your appreciation, remember the meaning of this day. It is to show your love, to remind your mom that you are there. And to remind yourself that she is there, and about your undying connection.

The consumer market is saturated with hundreds of gift ideas. The problem is, with so much choice, it can be hard to pick the right gift for a specific person. There are a few rules that go in gift giving that can make the process easier, but overall, buyers will find that the gifts that make the most impact are the ones thought were poured into.
Valentine’s Day is the easiest holiday to buy for, since there are specific gifts to consider. Roses or other flowers are commonly given to females, while males usually receive some sort of chocolates. Small toys, jewelry, and memorable Valentine’s Day cards are all great ideas as well. One can also break the mold and treat the holiday more like Christmas time instead, and buy small unrelated gifts instead.
Buying the right Christmas present is easy: keep your ears tuned in on what others are saying a couple of months in advance to December. You may also take up a common interest with a close friend or significant other, such as golfing or a type of hobby, that can be a general theme for a Christmas present. Whatever the case, Christmas Day is a day of cheer and fun- so don’t stress out!
The most fun gifts, as children all know, come at the day of one’s birth. A birth date is great for children, who tend to get good wishes all day at home and school alike. Even better yet, fun toys and presents such as electronics or an Xbox 360 are commonly given. Such things can be expensive, however, so these gifts show how much one truly cares for another.
A gift should be handy, but also fun as well. Some type of entertainment value should be given, unless one decides to go with a gift card or to buy something the recipient truly needs. A good example of a need-based gift would be with clothing or even baby supplies for a newly-formed family. In most cases it is best to keep gifts oriented towards a useful standpoint, so that they won’t be forgotten and pushed to the back of the closet in due time.
Young children and teens who don’t have a steady income will attest that a personalized gift is always a great idea. Personalized gifts put more effort into the overall process, but are much less expensive on average. A good example would be a home-made card or small arts and crafts that have been forged into a finished product. Baking or giving out food is also a great idea.
In Conclusion
The right gift will come through experience. If you happen to not make the impression you intended the first time around, there will always be the next time to use what you learned to obtain a better gift. Use this type of thinking to get a great gift without the stress that comes with it. After all, gifts are just signs of appreciation!
