Accessories and cultural pieces are sometime included so that the diners feel as though they have been transported to another country. Music is another part of the ambience. Live bands or recorded music is often streamed into the space so you have some background noise whilst you are eating.

You can choose which restaurant to go to by thinking about your tastes, what time you have and if you feel casual or formal. Restaurants offer quick meals for working lunches. However you can find more relaxed environments which are perfect for spending a relaxed evening out or a romantic dinner. You can also get nice wines, cocktails and drinks. And round off your night with a sweet dessert or a fine coffee.

I don’t know about you, but speaking for myself, I never even realized that there could be a profession such as a cake designer! Of course I have always noticed the well designed cakes in the windows of bakeries. However I did not know it was being done as a professional by someone dedicated to decorating cakes. But a recent encounter with a culinary artist exposed me to the fact. Even sweet products and cakes that are mass produced by food service companies have been designed by a professional.

This culinary artist told me that cake design has been one of the most sought after courses in food design. In reality, when the first cake was baked, there was the first cake designer. The very first person who manage to create a skin of icing on the cake was in effect, the very first cake designer. Ever since, there have been a number of improvements in the field, and not all of them have been widely accepted or used.

The two most popular flavoured icings are chocolate and vanilla even though there are so many more options. And when it comes to materials used, there have been several options down the ages. However most people will choose to use icing sugar above anything else. There have even been attempts to market sugar-free icing sugar so people on a diet can still enjoy cake. however sales of this are low as the original version packs much more taste.

But if you are a great cake designer you can work with any materials and ingredients to produce a lovely looking cake. You can make a masterpiece out of a molehill with even the plainest of cakes. There, you can buy savoury products, hot and cold drinks and sweet treats for afters. Sweet products are most commonly bought by people experiencing a bad day. A muffin is often the treat of choice to accompany a coffee or as a dessert. This is because they are easy to eat, do not need heating up and come in a number of flavours.

Development of muffins has led to it being reclassified as a gourmet snack when produced with good quality ingredients. The expansion of gourmet coffee shops like Starbucks has led to this in part. Luxury ingredients like Belgian chocolate chips and the freshest fruits are used so that even discerning eaters are tempted to nibble on the top of a muffin.
Sweet treats are no longer just for those who aren’t on a diet, now people watching their weight can indulge in a ‘skinny muffin’ of lemon, blueberry and many other flavours. Coffee houses are not losing money by driving away those on a diet whilst the customers feel like they are eating something tasty yet healthy.

There has also been a revolution in the shape of muffins and this has had an impact on consumer attitude towards muffins. When first sold in coffee houses and shops, muffins were relatively small and evenly shaped. Then, the top of the muffin became the most prized section and manufacturers began to bake them so that the top was larger than the bottom. This is where the term ‘muffin top’ came from which we use to describe stomachs that are being squeezed over tight trousers.

The flower-pot muffin is the newest shape to hit the shelves. The new shape is a little smaller than the large-topped muffins, this is because people are more health conscious and are less likely than before to eat a huge portion of muffin. The name flower-pot comes from the fine paper that surrounds the bottom of the muffin.

There can be major profits made by selling muffins in coffee houses and shops, and now pubs are getting in on the action by offering their customers muffins as a sweet alternative to the more traditional savoury snacks usually found in pubs.
