Teach Yourself Acoustic Guitar with Country Music Guitar Lessons

Monday, November 16th, 2009

It has become such a popular item on the Internet today and is accessible for everyone, young and old, novice or experienced. I am talking about country music guitar lessons. So let’s look at a few aspects that will guarantee to delight you. We will focus on some individual styles and also discuss the telecaster.

You might not know this, but a very interesting style of playing took hold during the blues and rock eras of music. It is known as the bottleneck style because of the way players expressed their lyrics by sliding objects along the strings, which produced human sounding voices.

It started way back in the early twentieth century and because of it’s unbelievable popularity, it just flourished in the nineteen sixties when blues and rock music exploded. The haunting sounds made by sliding an object along the strings just mesmerized people as they could identify with these sounds played along with the lyrics.

The word “bottleneck” guitar was used by players who performed their music by actually taking the neck of a bottle and placing in onto their first and second fingers. Blades and knives were also experimented with and used to play the slide. Today there are modern slides available in all music stores. They also developed a technique whereby you can either play the guitar in the normal position, or by placing it down on your lap.

Another style of playing the country guitar is using the “chicken picken” technique. Walon Jennings started it by pulling the strings with his right hand finger while at the same time damping the strings with his left hand. Today many lead guitarists use this technique when doing solos. Of course there are many different styles to play a guitar and no doubt you will find your own unique style. It is important for you to be comfortable with the guitar and the sound.

Rock and roll guitars can produce so many different sounds but it would be wise for you to learn how a typical country music guitar sounds. You see it has its very own unique sound that only a slide can produce. If you listen to country music then try to identify when a slide is used.

The reason for this is that most country players choose to stay with the clean, clear sound of the Fender Telecaster. The “Tele” as it is known, had a sound that made wishful guitar players sit up and take notice. And let’s not forget the beautiful designs that made it a dream to play. It was the first electric guitar to be successfully produced and sold on a big scale and it was ideal for playing country music.

Kenny Chesney Concert Tickets - Charleston, SC

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Kenny Chesney is a country music superstar, although his first release, titled “In My Wildest Dreams”, was released to lackluster sales in 1994 on independent label Capricorn Records. However, singles from the album proved that there was a fan base for Kenny’s music, and his subsequent albums have proven this.

Eleven of Kenny’s first thirteen albums have been certified gold or higher. Although his debut on Capricorn was not the blockbuster that his later albums became, the singles from the album, “The Tin Man” and “Whatever It Takes” did touch the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts, extreme success for an independent release. Unfortunately, Capricorn Records did not continue to publish country music after that year.

Kenny Chesney has released more than thirty top ten country hits since his first release, including a whopping seventeen that peaked at number one. He has won four consecutive Entertainer of the Year American Country Music awards and six awards from the Country Music Association.

Seventeen of Kenny’s songs have hit number one, and his 2007 summer tour was the highest grossing country music tour of the year. One hit record is amazing; two is incredible. Seventeen is downright unbelievable.

Making his way to Nashville, which is just north of his hometown and east of his collegiate home, Kenny Chesney worked the music scene in the famed Music City, looking to capture a piece of his dream of a career in music.

During his college years at East Tennessee State, he played bluegrass and recorded a record to sell at his gigs in 1989.

Kenny made his way to Nashville, TN, which is known worldwide as the home of country music and just north of Kenny’s home town of Knoxville. Kenny’s efforts to land a record deal paid off in 1992, when he signed with BMI and Opryland Music Group.

The 2009 tour includes a show on September 12 in Charleston, South Carolina, at the North Charleston Coliseum. This tour is one of the mega tours of the country music summer season with tour dates all across the United States and Canada.

Kenny Chesney’s summer concert tour this year includes a stop in Charleston, SC on September 12 at the North Charleston Coliseum. Kenny’s tour is one of the biggest of the summer with venues across the United States and Canada.

Despite the slow start to his career, he’s made up for it with incredible success during the first two decades of releasing hit country music. He is truly one of country’s modern music superstars, with two greatest hits albums already available.
