Twin Baby Shower Invitation Ideas

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

It’s rare for twins to be brought into the world, so getting the chance to send out twin baby shower invitations only comes once in a lifetime. Not only will it be the mother-to-be’s first and most likely only pair of twins, but it will also most likely be one of the only baby showers you and the guests ever get a chance to attend. For this reason, it’s important to make sure every aspect of the celebration is special, even the invitations.

Planning just the baby shower itself can be incredibly difficult and stressful — sometimes it can be all too easy to forget the small details like specialized invitations for the event. Everyone expects invitations, and you surely don’t forget to do them, but sometimes, remembering the fact that twins are on the way might momentarily lapse from your mind, and you could forget to make the invitations something special.

If you are planning the party to have a particular theme don’t forget to design the twin baby shower invitations in that theme as well. While the obvious predominant theme is a baby shower, the shower that your planning may have a different theme. For example, if you are going to be setting up lots of flowers all over the place where the baby shower will take place, consider getting invitations that have flowers on them too. Getting the babies’ genders printed on the invitations is a sweet addition as well, as long as the mother has made their genders known to everyone.

It’s important to make the twin baby showers as special as you can, even if you have not decided on a theme for the shower. You can do this through specialized and customized invitations that have a unique design and even special paper. The mother to be will be appreciative of the effort you put in, and the guests will love the special designs as well.

Party favors are a big part of tying the celebration together as well. If you are going to be giving out favors to guests, a clever way to put a twist on things is to make the favors and the invitations match themes. If you do this, the shower does not have to have an elaborate theme or scheme to it and both the party favors and the invitations will become treasured memorabilia.

Everything to come up with in planning the baby shower is important, even the invitations you send out,. Though they may seem like minor details, you should make them as special as they should be, especially since the mother-to-be is about to have twins. Make a special event that much more special through putting some love and thoughtfulness into the twin baby shower invitations you design. Everyone will love them, and the mother to be will be the most appreciative of all.

If you’re planning a baby shower for a soon to be mother who is having twins, find out how to make the twin baby shower invitations truly memorable.

Mother’s Day in History

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

Different countries celebrate Mother’s Day on different days, because this day has different roots of origin. To believe certain sources this day comes from a custom of mother worship in ancient Greece.

The ancient Romans also had a holiday, called Matronalia, and on this day mothers were given gifts. Besides the Mother’s Day, in many countries International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th.

The author of modern Mother’s Day holiday is known to be Anna Jarvis. In 1912 she trademarked phrases “second Sunday in May” and “Mother’s day”. She has also created the Mother’s Day International Association.

Anna Jarvis created this day to honor the mother, not mothers in general. Which means that, the day is dedicated for the mother of each person, and each person has to honor his own mother.

The day was not recognized as national holiday immediately. Anna Jarvis first held a memorial for her late mother in 1907. It was a private ceremony. Later she ran campaigns to make this day popular.

Mother’s Day became popular in 1910 when clothing merchant John Wanamaker financed the campaigns. The holiday spread as a day for mother appreciation. It has become accepted as national holiday by US President Woodrow Wilson on May 14, 2009.

To this day, after almost 100 years, Mother’s Day is one of the best known and widely celebrated holidays. We honor our mothers during this day and give them presents.

In the entire world people celebrate Mother’s Day, and even though the dates differ, it means the same thing. We remember our mothers and show them our love and how important they are to us.

As that day comes closer, we can start thinking about what we will do on this day, how we will show our appreciation to our mothers, what gift we will give her.

Avoiding The Snags Of Outdoor Wedding Planning

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Outdoor wedding organization is a bit more complicated than its indoor marriage counterpart. More things have to be taken into account, such as the weather, more details about the setting, and the presence of any stinging insects. But it is well worth it.

Just to be on the safe side, it is advisable to have an alternative indoors place for the outdoors wedding, to safeguard yourself and your guests if the weather turns sour. In out of the way locations, it is best to hire a big catering tent to erect near the chosen spot.

Sometimes, certain parks or other wonderful natural areas, well suited for an outdoors wedding, are managed by an organization that does not have a lot of experience with hosting marriages. In that case, you should be extra careful to check that their side of the organization runs smoothly.

Make sure that all the needed infrastructure will be available for your outdoor wedding day. Things such as portable toilets are fundamental if there are no close restrooms, and in remote locations where there is no electricity you may need a generator to ensure availability of lighting.

As for decorations, at an outdoor wedding Mother Nature provides most of them, with plants, flora, and a beautiful view such as the ocean from a beach. But you may want to add to all this somewhat. Many couples choose a wedding arch or other central element to provide a focal point for the ceremony.

There are several retailers of wedding arches with well-designed internet sites, who offer different styles of arches for all kinds of marriage ceremonies. With the wide choice available, you are guaranteed to find a wedding arch that suits your expectations and style.

Wedding arches are also quite portable, so you can always move them if you need to change location at the last minute. If you want some extra decoration, flowers are best, either in pots or of the cut variety. You can put these up yourself, or you can have a florist do the work for you.

One important thing to remember when informing your guests about the upcoming marriage is that the wedding will be held outdoors, and that you should give them the right information allowing them to plan their dress accordingly. How warm is it going to be, and is there any risk of rain or wind gusts?

Still concerning the guests, make sure that everyone, including elderly or people with impaired walking ability, will manage to get to the location. You may want to organize a shuttle with an all-road vehicle if the place is far from a paved road.

Concerning the wedding couple’s dress, they should also be adapted to the weather and season. The bride should opt for a rather short and not too complicated dress so that she will be comfortable in the setting. High heels are also best avoided at an outdoor wedding.

The Dark Side of the Mother’s Day

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Mother’s Day as we know it is a very profound and cheerful day. On this day we honor our mothers, and give them presents. We enjoy spending time with them and sharing old memories. It’s simply a very nice and sweet occasion to celebrate.

But very few people know the sad story of the founder of this day. Anna Marie Jarvis will always be remembered as the original author of this beautiful idea, and the story would end happily if it was not for the black stain on its past.

On May 12 of 1907 Anna Marie Jarvis has held a memorial for her mother who died two years earlier. After that day she took on a campaign to make the Mother’s Day a widely recognized day. She finally succeeded to do that and in 1914 it has become a national holiday.

As it were, the holiday has quickly become commercialized and Anna Marie didn’t appreciate that at all. In the 20s she incorporated herself as the “Mother’s Day International Association” and claimed the copyright of the second Sunday of May.

She was active in her campaign against the commercialization and even once was arrested for disturbing peace. She has spent her family heritage on her campaigns against the holiday she created and died in poverty.

Truly a sad story and that gives food for thought. The true meaning of this wonderful day has been taken over by cheesy gifts and to cite Anna Marie Jarvis, “A printed card means nothing except that you are too lazy to write to the woman who has done more for you than anyone in the world”; that stands true way too often.

Let’s not forget the meaning of this wonderful day and honor our mothers from our heart. It’s not the gifts that matter but your love. Give her a gift but make it symbol of your love.

What Does the Mother’s Day Mean to You?

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

Every year in May we dedicate one day of the year to our beloved person - our mom. We take the time to show our appreciation and our love. On this day when we pay all our attention to her, especially if we have forgotten to do that during the year.

It’s easy to forget our mother in the daily mundane world. We go fast to our jobs and back home that we forget our most important people. So it is a great tradition to remember that at least once a year and let her know we love her.

It is not with our gifts that we show that but by sharing our memories and emotions, paying her a visit and spending all day with her. This day has a deep meaning for her and for us. That is the time to refresh our connection.

The gift that is popular to give her, is a symbol of that attention, but it must not precede our feelings. The gift is merely a token, but the intent must be obvious. Some people even don’t make gifts, for not to hide the meaning.

The perfect gift may be not the most expensive one but that which one puts their heart into it. A simple little card made out of old photos can be one that she will cherish for the rest of her life. Yet an expensive coffeemaker can be quickly forgotten.

To find the best mother’s day idea, look into your heart. Think about your feelings, think about the things that express them. An old little something, even if just a picture can do that.

No matter how you choose to show your appreciation, remember the meaning of this day. It is to show your love, to remind your mom that you are there. And to remind yourself that she is there, and about your undying connection.

Planning For An Outdoor Wedding Without The Snares

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Planning an outdoor wedding is a bit trickier than organizing a normal marriage celebration, but getting married outside is certainly worth it. You may have to take possible pitfalls into consideration, but there’s just no substitute to a wedding in a beautiful natural location.

Even if your mind is set and you are definitely going to get married outside, it is wise to go for a location that has alternative indoor facilities, to be used if necessary. At least, get a big tent so that if the weather turns out to be inclement on the big day, the ceremony can still take place.

Sometimes, certain parks or other wonderful natural areas, well suited for an outdoors wedding, are managed by an organization that does not have a lot of experience with hosting marriages. In that case, you should be extra careful to check that their side of the organization runs smoothly.

Ensure that you will have access to all the facilities that will be necessary for a great outdoor wedding. For instance, if there are no toilets you will need to rent portable ones. Bear in mind that you will need electricity, so if the outdoor wedding location is really out of the way you will have to rent a generator or two.

Nature already provides a great backdrop to most outdoor weddings, but if you want to add a couple of extra decorations it is best to do it sparsely and to let everything blend into the natural setting. Wedding arches are an exception, as these give your ceremony focus.

Wedding arches are available in many types and styles, to suit your budget, style and preferences. They are usually rugged and beautiful enough to be reused as a garden decoration after the outdoor wedding, and can be bought over the Internet at several specialized retailers.

Wedding arches are also quite portable, so you can always move them if you need to change location at the last minute. If you want some extra decoration, flowers are best, either in pots or of the cut variety. You can put these up yourself, or you can have a florist do the work for you.

It’s very important to inform attending guests that they will be going to an outdoor wedding, so that they can wear appropriate clothes. It also makes sense to send your guests a weather forecast a few days before the marriage, so that they will be aware of any expected rain.

Consider the access to the chosen outdoor wedding venue. Is it easy to reach? You may have to organize a shuttle bus if it’s hard to part at the site. Maybe some walking will be necessary, and in that case you have to take the mobility of elderly, disabled or pregnant guests into account.

Concerning the wedding couple’s dress, they should also be adapted to the weather and season. The bride should opt for a rather short and not too complicated dress so that she will be comfortable in the setting. High heels are also best avoided at an outdoor wedding.
