Kenny Chesney - The Man Behind the Music

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Kenny Chesney is one of the most popular country artists today. Even those who do not listen to country have heard of this musician. As a matter of fact, he is the current ACM Entertainer of the Year; one of many amazing achievements. Kenny Chesney has a charm about him that lures audiences from all over. Once they have seen him in person, and watched him perform, they are hooked for life!

Since the beginning of his career, in 1993, he has produced 13 albums. Eleven of these albums were certified Gold and Platinum! Over 30 of the songs, on these albums, have reached the Top 10 hit list. The amazing part of all of this is he still appears to be a laid-back kind of guy - he’s got talent and personality.

Kenny Chesney, born in 1968 in Knoxville, Tennessee, received his first guitar when he was only 5 years old. Surprisingly, this was not the start of his passion for music. He absolutely refused to play the guitar because it hurt his fingers. Even if he liked music - at this point in his life - he sure did not want to play it. Even in high school he was played football rather than participating in musical events.

After high school, Kenny Chesney went to East Tennessee State University. He was involved in a Bluegrass Program during his term here. At this point in his life, Kenny Chesney had started saving for a new guitar. Once he had bought one, and graduated, he followed his dream to Nashville.

He quickly made an impression on a number of people, so much that by 1992 he signed contracts with BMI and Opryland Music Group. “In my Wildest Dreams” and “All I Need to Know” were two of his first hits from this era in his life. His songs are not only powerful, but they are personal. Each of his songs reflects on events and emotions that he has personally experienced. This is one reason his fans can relate to him and his music.

On a side note, many stars are turning to new ventures like creating their own clothing line or perfume. Kenny Chesney, on the other hand, is looking to create his own Rum. He has even gone so far as to ask his fans what they would like to taste in their rum.

Still performing, tickets to his most recent show in Boston, didn’t last more than 10 minutes. Normally this would not be a huge accomplishment, but due to the weak economy, ticket sales for entertainment purposes are down, yet his shows are not! Fans find comfort in his music and his performances.

Kenny Chesney has won an exuberant number of awards, some of which include 1997 ACM New Male Vocalist of the Year and 2008 Entertainer of the Year. Many others, such as single of the year, best video, and best male country artist line his bookshelves!

Kenny Chesney has a very charismatic seductive way about him and his voice. He was a way of luring fans in and getting them hooked on how and what he is singing. Even if you are not into country, you may find that you like his performances and many of his songs. Regardless, his shows are not worth missing - get your tickets while you can.

Jonas Brothers Tickets - Enjoy a night of family fun now!

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Many bands are passionate about what they do, but it is not often you will find one that is pure as well. Jonas Brothers happens to be one of those bands; a band that parents and kids can agree on. Many - who are not familiar with them - still call them your typical “boy band”, but they are not. Their musical abilities are mind boggling; take the opportunity to experience the live - it is amazing!

The name of the band is exactly who they are - they are three young brothers in the Jonas family. Kevin, the eldest, took the lead and initiative in getting this band together and he plays lead guitar. Joseph is the middle child, is the lead vocalist, and had always aspired to be a comedian not a musician. Nicholas - the youngest - followed his brothers and does an impeccable job with rhythm.

Today it may appear as if the Jonas Brothers have been around for years, but this is not true. It wasn’t until 2005 when Columbia executives noticed a song written by Nick Jonas and his father - this is the song that got the band noticed. After signing with Columbia, the Jonas Brothers released their first album - “It’s About Time” - in 2006. Many talented people worked on this album to make it what it was; Desmond child of Aerosmith and Billy Mann of Destiny’s Child were just two of them.

Hollywood Records later signed with the band to help the produce and release their second album. “Kids of the Future” was one of the songs - off this album - that got the Jonas Brothers a lot of attention. The album also included their cover Disney song - “I Wanna be Like You”.

It was their third album that changed their lives! Songs like “”Burnin’ Up”, “Pushin’ Me Away”, “Tonight”, and “A Little Bit Longer” were number one hits on iTunes - and other places - for long stretch of time. After the release of this third album, ticket sales began to increase immensely. This was a turning point for the Jonas Brothers and there was no turning back - they are on their way to stardom!

The Jonas Brothers make appearances - yes while on tour - but in other venues as well. They have been known to make guest appearances on many Disney shows like “Hannah Montana”. The Jonas Brothers also appeared on Disney’s original movie “Camp Rock”. They didn’t play as themselves, in the movie, but they did play as a band of three who were sent off to music camp for the summer.

The number of awards they have received - in such a short time - is nothing short of amazing. Awards like “Breakthrough Artist”, “New Act”, and “Favorite Music Group” already line their shelves! In 2008, only two years after their first album, they were nominated for a Grammy for “Best New Artists” - this is an astonishing feat on its own!

These boys are marking their territory quickly and making a great name for themselves. They are fully supported, and managed, by their parents - all of which helps to make them one of the greatest family bands in a long time. Their fans, after only a few years, are loyal and will continue to support them for years to come. Get tickets now and take the opportunity to experience pure bliss while watching the Jonas Brothers perform!

Robin Williams Tickets - Get ‘em While you can

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Robin Williams is one of those names that just about everyone has heard of. He has had a long, successful career full of comedy and dramatic roles and shows. Every role that he has ever taken on, he convinces the audience that he is that person. His talent is beyond exceptional, and anyone who has seen him perform will vouch for this.

Movies like “Mrs. Doubtfire” make us laugh together as a family. “Death to Smoochy”, while funny, was a bit more dark. He can then turn around and play in an extremely dramatic movie like “What Dreams May Come”. It is clear - by this list of movies - that he can play just about any role he is put in - and he does it well. His most recent comedic show, “Weapons of Self Destruction”, will offer nothing but superior comedy as he has in the past.

Robin Williams was born in Chicago, and then raised in Michigan. He was not always a comedian; on the contrary, he was a quiet kid. However, when he did speak up, he was performing some form of comedy. He started with simple impressions of his Grandfather, which he performed for his mother. Even at this point, he was still more of an introvert.

Once he reached high school and joined the drama club, he began to climb out of his shell. Juilliard recognized his talent and he was accepted into their school his freshman year, he was one of only twenty students with this offer! Robin Williams was able to attend Julliard’s advanced program, with only one other student - Christopher Reeves. Everyone knows what amazing actors these men are, and what an honor it must have been for them to attend advanced programs at such a prestigious school. This is where Williams acquired a strong foundation for his skill set.

Robin Williams truly started his career when he played the role of Mork on a popular - but old - TV show called “Mork and Mindy”. Mork was an alien who came to Boulder, Colorado and tried to build a life. This role defined Williams as a comedian with exceptional skills physically and with rapid-fire delivery. As his career expanded, he began playing roles in movies where comedy was his role. Fans that paid close attention would pick up that his roles always went deeper than just comedic value.

Some of his earlier works like “Good Morning Vietnam” and “The Birdcage” are what helped him become noticeable and get his foot in the door. His role as the voice of the animated Genie on Disney’s “Aladdin” was another big stepping-stone in his career.

During the 1970’s and 1980’s, Robin Williams was performing many different stand-up comedy routines, which often sold out. He also performed on three HBO specials, in 1978 - “Off the Wall”, in 1982 - “An Evening with Robin Williams” and in 1986 - “Robin Williams: Live at the Met”. He also performed in a one-man show called “Robin Williams Live on Broadway”, which was very successful for him. He even made it to number 13 on Comedy Central’s list - “100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time.”

Audiences have recognized his performances in many different movies and shows. His most recent performance is called “Weapons of Self Destruction”. If you have never seen Robin Williams live, now is your chance. If you have seen him live, see him again - you know it’s worth it.

Nickelback - Their Story

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

With hundreds of popular rock bands, it takes a lot for the newer ones to make their mark; Nickelback has definitely accomplished this. This rock band, originally from Canada, is made up of 5 passionate musicians. The combination of their personalities and their energy captivates audiences - around the world - like no other. For those who like music, and can appreciate a good show, Nickelback is a performance you must see!

This Canadian rock band began their career back in the 90’s, and was inspired by the once popular band - “Creed”. These musicians were determined to make it to the top regardless of the tough road they had in front of them. They definitely dealt with their share of difficulties and struggles, but made a quick rise regardless. Today they are amongst some of the top rock and roll bands around.

The lead singer of Nickelback - Chad Kroeger - started his singing career working with many local bands in Hanna. Chad knew in order to conquer his dreams he would have to begin performing in bigger cities at bigger venues. It was at this point that he, and his brother Mike, went to Vancouver.

Ryan Vikedal and Ryan Peake were the next additions to the band, in 1996. It was at this point that the group decided - and agreed - to call themselves Nickelback. (Mike, Chad’s brother coined this phrase. Every time he would give customers change, he would say “a nickel back”. A silly little catch phrase turned into the name of one of the top rock and roll bands of today.)

These musicians were not only talented, but also passionate about their dreams. They did the own PR work - talking to radio stations and clubs, booked and advertised their own shows, along with creating their own YouTube website. It was not too long before their talent began to catch on and the group began to have a following. This same year - 1996 - they released official songs - “Hesher” and “Curb” and began touring.

Canadian stations, in the beginning of 2000, were looking for local bands to highlight. This was the perfect opportunity for Nickelback to share their latest creation - “The State”, which was their first song to hit the charts. Nickelback had over 200 bookings, which finally got them noticed by recording artists. EMI - a Canadian recording firm - and Roadrunner Records - a U.S. recording firm - were the first to sign contracts with this young band.

Ryan Vikedal left the band in 2005, which opened the door for Daniel Adair. Even with such a drastic change, the band kept their fans and continued to flourish. “All the Right Reasons” - their 2005 album release - was one of their most successful albums; it was on the top 30 charts for two years. Over 7-million copies of this album have been sold, and that is just in the U.S.A.

The stories told in each of their songs, combined with their energy, capture the hearts of thousands of fans. Nickelback even encourages their fans to participate in their shows, making each performance unique. With 2009 getting close to the half way mark, opportunities are getting slim. Get your tickets now and experience a performance by one of the fastest rising rock bands around.

The story of Mary Poppins never changes - It’s Magical

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Cameron Mackintosh and Disney studios took it upon themselves to introduce Mary Poppins back into our lives. New generations, and old, now have the opportunity to watch the magical happenings of this fascinating English nanny - once again. Mary Poppins on screen is one thing, but live - that is a whole other story!

The show first debuted in London in 2004. For two years, Americans sat on the edge of their seats waiting for their chance. Finally, in November 2006, the Broadway show debuted at the Amsterdam Theatre in New York. Mary Poppins has been performing, in the U.S., for over two years now, and the show is just as highly demanded, as it was when it first came to the states! There is no better way to experience her magical presence than to see the show on Broadway.

The original stories, of Mary Poppins, were from a book series written, and published in the 1930’s. In 1964, Walt Disney changed the character a bit, to make her a little more charismatic, and introduced Mary Poppins to the big screen. This phenomenal musical quickly caught the attention of audiences of all ages - it is a great family story. Even today, over 40 years later, “a spoonful of sugar” and “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” are still well known lines from the musical.

Mary Poppins floated out of the sky, as the entire Banks family desperately needed a rude awakening. Children looking for fun and attention - and of course need a bit of discipline - and parents who just don’t have the time - there is no better home for an English nanny. The children were not thrilled with Mary Poppins - at first - but her charm and magic quickly captured their hearts. Throughout the flick, you see a complete transformation of the entire family, individually and the way they are together. It is amazing what an exceptional cast, a creative script, and excellent music can do for a musical about family and magic.

Over 40 years later, Disney decided it was time to bring this loveable character away from the big screen and onto Broadway stages. Mackintosh, Julian Fellowes, Richard Eyre, George Styles, and Anthony Drew all worked together with Disney to make this possible. Even with a few new songs and a modernized story line, the team did an impeccable job bringing the English nanny back to life!

Ashley Brown and Gavin Lee play the roles of Mary Poppins and Bert (the father of the kids), respectively. Along with other fabulous cast members, these two bring audiences the same old story with a grand new twist! Ticket sales have soured, from day one, and audiences continually rave about each performance - proof of an exceptionally performed show!

In 2008 the production began to tour London, but will come to an end in April of 2009. The cast has had the luxury and honor of performing in some of the most prestigious theatres in the country; theatres like Edinburg Playhouse, Palace Theatre, Manchester, the Wales Millennium, and Theatre Royal. The U.S. production will begin touring, as well, in March of 2009, which currently has no scheduled end date. Holland tours will begin in the year 2010.

If you liked the movie, you will love the live production. Take the entire family to see Mary Poppins - live - with new songs and magical tricks up her sleeve! Experience the transformation of a dysfunctional family into that picture perfect image that Mary Poppins so vividly paints.
