Keith Urban Concert in Knoxville

Lauded by fans and critics alike, Keith Urban’s platinum-selling albums confidently usher country music into the twenty-first century. Whether updating classics like Elton John’s “Country Comfort” or penning his own ballads like “Stupid Boy,” he has proven his talent in MTV and Memphis alike. Tennessee country music fans should have plenty to look forward to when he arrives in August.

Keith was raised in Australia, and he started his successful solo career in 1999 with the release of his self-titled album ‘Keith Urban’. Keith has also collaborated as a guitarist with such artists as a the Dixie Chicks and Garth Brooks. He worked his way into country music stardom in the heart of country music, Nashville, Tennessee. In 2002, his single “Somebody Like You” exploded on the country music scene and immediately created a following.

Several platinum-selling releases later, he has earned a legion of die-hard fans, and successfully made the leap from musician to celebrity. A well-publicized marriage to Nicole Kidman and spotlights at the Grammy Awards and Country Music Awards helped raise Urban’s visibility, and in 2007 he was able to issue a Greatest Hits album.

Urban has filled arenas around the world, including performances at the Live 8 Concert in 2005 and Al Gore’s Live Earth concert in 2007. With a live show renowned for energetic and honest performance, he is equally at home in football stadiums and intimate clubs.

Urban’s current album is titled “Defying Gravity”, released in March of 2009, and critics thought highly of several tracks on the studio productions. The standout tracks include “If I Could Ever Love” and the popular “Sweet Thing”. As one of the higher selling releases of the period and debuted at number one. Urban followed the release with an appearance on American Idol, where he performed his single “Kiss A Girl”.

Supported by well-known acts like Taylor Swift, Urban embarked on the two-leg ‘Escape the World Tour’ to support “Defying Gravity.” Hitting all major cities in Canada and the USA, the tour showcases a catalog of Urban’s greatest hits, as well as his newest material. After kicking off the tour with a smaller six-show series of club performances, Urban played the first official date in Uncasville, CT.

Urban will arrive to play Knoxville, Tennessee on August 28th at the Thompson-Boling Arena. Tickets are in demand, since Knoxville is just down the road from Nashville and has a large country music fan base. As ‘Defying Gravity’ has already reached Gold certification, his fans have proven they are still in love with his music.
